Pathao vs Steadfast vs RedX: which courier for your store?

A Bangladesh seller's comparison: coverage, COD payout speed, return charges, merchant panels and fraud-check data — plus how to pick the right one.

By the Eazifiy teamPublished Updated 10 min read

Ask ten online sellers in Bangladesh which courier is best and you will get ten answers, most of them based on the last parcel that went wrong. That is not a useful way to choose. Pathao, Steadfast and RedX are all capable of delivering your orders; they differ in coverage, in how fast your cash-on-delivery money comes back, in how returns are handled and in how well they plug into your store.

This guide walks through those differences without ranking the three, because the right answer depends on what you sell and where your customers are. Most sellers arrive here deciding between Pathao and Steadfast specifically, so there is a head-to-head section on those two further down, plus a two-week test you can run on your own orders to settle it with data instead of opinions. Where charges are involved we say where to look rather than quote a figure — courier rate cards change more often than blog posts do.

What actually matters when comparing couriers

Before looking at any one company, decide what you are comparing. For a store that ships daily, six things decide whether a courier is good for you:

  1. Coverage where your customers are. All three cover Dhaka well. Outside the major cities the picture changes by district and by upazila, and a courier that is excellent inside Dhaka may hand rural parcels to a partner with a different service level.
  2. Delivery time, inside and outside Dhaka. Same-day or next-day inside the city is common; outside Dhaka expect two to four days, and check how each courier defines "outside Dhaka" — some treat nearby districts differently from far ones.
  3. COD collection and payout cycle. With cash on delivery the courier collects your money. How many days pass before it reaches your bank or bKash, and whether payouts are daily, weekly or on request, matters more than most merchants realise when they start.
  4. Return handling and charges. Every store gets returns. What the courier charges for a returned parcel, how many delivery attempts it makes first, and how quickly the product comes back to you are where the real cost of a courier hides.
  5. Merchant panel and API. Booking parcels one by one in a courier app is fine at five orders a day and unbearable at fifty. A merchant panel with bulk booking, and an API your store can talk to, decides how much of your day goes to logistics.
  6. Fraud-check data. Some couriers expose a customer's past delivery record — how many parcels to this phone number were delivered versus returned. That is one of the best fake-order filters available in Bangladesh.

Pathao Courier

Pathao started as a ride-sharing and delivery company and built its courier service on that network. Its strength is dense city coverage and a fast inside-Dhaka service, backed by a merchant panel and a public merchant API that most Bangladeshi ecommerce platforms integrate with.

Where it fits. Stores whose orders are mostly in Dhaka, Chattogram and the other large cities, and stores that want reliable API booking and status sync.

Check before you commit. Coverage and delivery time for the specific districts you ship to most; the current COD payout schedule; return charges on the rate card; and whether the fraud-check data is available on your plan. Pathao's merchant onboarding asks for business documents, so start it before launch week.

Steadfast Courier

Steadfast built its reputation on ecommerce parcels specifically, with a merchant-first panel, straightforward bulk booking and a payout process that many small sellers find predictable. It also exposes a merchant API and a customer delivery-history check that is widely used for screening COD orders.

Where it fits. Small and mid-sized stores that ship a steady volume of COD parcels and want a simple panel, plus stores that ship a lot outside Dhaka and want to compare district-level coverage.

Check before you commit. The rate card for inside and outside Dhaka by weight, the return charge, and the current payout cycle. Ask specifically how partial deliveries (customer takes one item of three) are handled and billed.

RedX

RedX is Daraz's logistics arm opened up to independent merchants. Its network is built for marketplace volume, which shows in its coverage outside the major cities and its handling capacity in peak seasons. It offers a merchant panel and an API.

Where it fits. Stores with a significant share of orders outside Dhaka, and stores that spike during Eid and campaign seasons and need a network that absorbs volume.

Check before you commit. Delivery time to your top districts, how COD is settled, and how returns are charged. As with the others, ask about partial delivery.

The last row is deliberate. Any number we put there would be wrong within months, and a wrong number is worse than none. Get the current rate card from each courier's merchant onboarding and put the three side by side yourself — it takes twenty minutes and it is your districts and your parcel weights that matter.

Pathao vs Steadfast, head to head

"Pathao or Steadfast?" is the most common courier question Bangladeshi sellers ask, and it is usually asked as if there were a single right answer. There is not — but the two do differ in ways you can match against your own order mix:

Pathao Steadfast
Inside-Dhaka speed Same-day / next-day typical Next-day typical
Outside Dhaka Strong in major cities; check districts Broad district coverage
COD payout Check current schedule Check current schedule
Return charge On rate card On rate card
Merchant panel Mature, feature-rich Simple, bulk-friendly
Merchant API Yes Yes
Delivery-history check Yes Yes
Best for City-heavy orders, fast delivery Steady COD volume, mixed destinations

The honest reading of that table is that neither courier "wins". The row that decides it for you is the one that matches your order mix: if most of your parcels go to Dhaka and Chattogram and speed is what customers notice, Pathao's city network is the stronger fit. If your orders are spread across districts and what hurts is returns and payout timing, Steadfast's ecommerce-first panel tends to suit better.

A practical way to decide

Rather than picking on reputation, run a two-week test with real orders:

  1. Pull your last 100 orders and group them by district. If seventy or more are in Dhaka and Chattogram, weight the comparison toward inside-city speed. If half are spread across districts, weight it toward outside-Dhaka coverage and return handling.
  2. Open both merchant accounts. Onboarding takes time and documents; do it once, in parallel, before you need either.
  3. Send alternating parcels for two weeks — odd orders to one, even to the other — and record for each: delivered on which day, returned or not, how many days until the COD money reached you, and how many support messages you had to send.
  4. Read the numbers, not the anecdotes. One lost parcel feels like a verdict; twenty-five parcels each is data.

Most stores that run this test end up with a clear answer for their own mix — and a surprising number end up keeping both.

When to run more than one courier

Many stores settle on one courier and then discover its weak district the hard way. Running two is normal once you ship more than a handful of parcels a day:

  • Split by area. One courier for inside Dhaka, another for the districts where it performs better. Your own delivery data will show you the split within a month.
  • Split by risk. Send first-time COD customers through the courier whose delivery-history check flagged nothing, and keep the other as fallback.
  • Keep a backup for peak season. When one network is saturated in the week before Eid, having a second account already set up is the difference between shipping and apologising.

The cost of running two is mostly administrative — two panels, two payout cycles, two sets of returns — which is exactly the part software should absorb.

Connecting a courier to your store without a developer

On a custom-built site, each courier integration is a developer project: API keys, a booking call, a webhook or polling job for status updates, and error handling for the day the API changes. On WooCommerce there are plugins, with the usual plugin-maintenance caveats.

On Eazifiy the six couriers currently supported — Pathao, Steadfast, RedX, Paperfly, eCourier and CarryBee — are built in. You paste the API credentials from your courier merchant panel into Courier settings in the admin, and from then on:

  • An order can be sent to the courier from the order screen (or in bulk where the courier supports it), and the consignment ID is stored on the order.
  • Delivery status syncs back and the order moves through Sent to courier → Shipped → Delivered (or Returned) without manual updates.
  • The customer's delivery history across couriers appears on the order as a fraud-check signal before you confirm a COD order.
  • Your Steadfast balance shows on the dashboard next to today's orders.

You can enable more than one courier and choose per order, which makes the two-courier setup above a matter of clicking rather than building.

Frequently asked questions

Pathao or Steadfast — which is better? Neither, in general. For orders concentrated in Dhaka and the big cities where speed is the differentiator, Pathao's city network usually fits better; for a steady COD volume spread across districts, Steadfast's ecommerce-first panel and payout process usually do. The two-week test above answers it for your store specifically.

Which courier is cheapest? It depends on your parcel weight and destination mix, and it changes. Compare the current rate cards for your own top five districts rather than trusting a general answer.

Which one is faster inside Dhaka? Both Pathao and Steadfast offer next-day inside Dhaka as standard, and Pathao's city network often allows same-day. For your specific areas, the two-week test is the reliable answer.

Do I need a trade licence to open a courier merchant account? Each courier sets its own onboarding requirements, and they typically ask for business identity documents. Check the current list on their merchant sign-up page and apply before you need the account.

Can I use one courier for Dhaka and another outside? Yes, and it is a common setup. The store needs to support multiple active couriers; on Eazifiy you pick the courier when sending the order.

How do I reduce returns regardless of courier? Confirm orders before shipping, take an advance payment on cash-on-delivery orders, and use the courier's delivery-history check. We cover this in detail in how to reduce fake orders and COD returns.

Does Eazifiy charge extra for courier integration? Courier integration is part of every plan. The courier's own charges are between you and the courier — Eazifiy never handles the parcel or the money.

Ready to connect a courier? Every Eazifiy plan includes courier integration, and the first 2 months are ৳200 a month on any plan — see pricing or the full feature list.
